Asheville father, son charged with DWI on same night

ASHEVILLE – In unrelated cases, a city father and son each was charged with driving while impaired early Wednesday.

Eric Eddings Sr., 52, of Scott Street, was charged with DWI and failure to wear a seat belt after an Asheville officer stopped him on South French Broad Avenue at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, according to warrants at the Buncombe County magistrate’s office.

His son, Eric Darrell Eddings, 23, of Wilson Creek Drive, was charged with DWI and failure to maintain lane control after a city officer stopped him on McDowell Street at 1 a.m., according to warrants.

The elder Eddings’ blood-alcohol level was measured at 0.15, according to arrest records. The son’s level was 0.08, according to records.

The father and son were released on written promises to appear in court. Both have Feb. 5 court dates on the charges.
