Asheville man charged with 3rd DWI in a year

ASHEVILLE – A city man has been charged with driving while impaired for the third time in a year.

Samuel Evan Turner, 23, of Bryant Street, was charged early Friday with his latest DWI, according to warrants at the Buncombe County magistrate’s office.

A Highway Patrol officer stopped Turner on Shelby Road, northwest of Asheville in the Woodfin area, at 4:15 a.m. Friday, according to warrants.

Turner also was charged with DWI on June 2, 2014 and on Nov. 9, 2013 but failed to appear on his appointed court dates, according to arrest documents.

He was served with outstanding warrants for the past DWI charges along with speeding and driving while license revoked charges, according to warrants.

Turner is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $31,000 secured bond.
