FAIRVIEW – Three people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries after the personal garage they were building collapsed Thursday afternoon.

The Fairview Fire Department responded to the structure off Old Gap Creek Road for a structure collapse at 1:43 p.m. Initial reports were that four people were trapped, but all were out when fire crews arrived, said Fairview Chief Scott Jones.

The workers, who were putting up roof trusses at the time, complained of neck and back pain, Jones said. The cause of the collapse was not clear.

Jason Penland has a permit on file with Buncombe County to build a two-bay metal garage at 27 Old Gap Creek Road.
