ASHEVILLE — Drought no more.

More than a week of at times flood-stage rain moved all North Carolina counties out of drought advisories, according to the state Drought Management Advisory Council's most recent weekly report released Thursday.

In last week's report, four N.C. counties — Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln — were in severe drought while several WNC counties, including Buncombe, Haywood and Henderson, were in moderate drought. The week before that, nearly all WNC counties had been in severe drought.

Since Jan. 1, 34.34 inches of rain have fallen at Asheville Regional Airport, which is now only 1.8 inches below normal. In September, the airport received 4.5 inches of rain, which is .69 inches above normal, and so far in October, it has received 3.74 inches of rain, which is 3.02 inches above normal, according to the National Weather Service.
