Asheville on Bikes celebrates eight years

Carol Asheville on Bikes, with the help of New Belgium Beer and The Market Place, will celebrate eight years of bicycle advocacy on Dec. 3.

"Asheville on Bikes has really grown over that last eight years," said director, Mike Sule, in the release. "We play a critical role in transforming our city's transportation options, provide afterschool urban bicycle education,and continue to host a variety of outreach events designed to encourage and inspire participation in urban cycling.

"We've been hard at work over the last year honing and developing the organization. It's time to celebrate our accomplishments, honor our volunteers, and share our strategic direction with the community."

Chef William Dissen of The Market Place will pairs small bite plates with a variety of New Belgium's craft beers. Pairing plates are $10 and Asheville on Bikes will receives 10 percent of every purchase.

New Belgium Brewing Company has a long history of continued investment in bicycle transportation and has partnered with the organization on a variety of events before setting up home in Asheville, "Our ongoing partnership with AoB aligns with our commitment to bike infrastructure and advocacy," said Trey Wheeler, New Belgium Ranger. "And, Chef William's commitment to quality and artistry aligns with our commitment to the same, making for what will be a fantastic evening."

The evening will also include a DJ set by Molly Parti and a "State of the Bike" address by Sule. It's from 6-9 p.m. The Market Place is at 20 Wall St.
