Music Video Asheville announces winners

Asheville rocker Marley Carroll and the Greenville, S.C. band Stereo Reform were among the big winners Wednesday night at the seventh annual Music Video Asheville awards at downtown Diana Wortham Theatre at Pack Place.

A big crowd gathered for the awards, which took on a Hollywood-style vibe complete with a red carpet entry. Judges for the awards include Citizen-Times and Asheville Scene entertainment editor Tony Kiss.

The judges gave Carroll their award for best video for the clip "Speed Reader," produced by Daniel Judson. Carroll also won for best visual design. Carroll performs April 26 at the Emerald Lounge as part of the Moogfest music festival.

The People's Choice award, picked by the audience, went to Stereo Reform for their self-produced video "Fire." The band and video also won for best editing.

The best soundtrack award went to 15-year-old singer Indigo Desouza for her clip "Color Outside the Lines," produced by IAMAVL.

Best costume design was given to the band Hellblinki for "All For You" produced by Stephen Gilliam. And award for best cinematology was given to Crazy Horse and Colston featuring Hunter for "Makeshift Spaceships" produced by Double A.
